Joseph "Jody" Robinson, 58, of Providence, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Friday January 21, 2022 at Miriam Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Jody was born in Providence RI, on 9/30/1963 to the late Arthur B. Robinson, Sr. and Dorothy Fay (Northup) Robinson. He was predeceased by his long-time spouse Rena “Nay Nay” Jefferies earlier this month. Jody is survived by his children, Tara Jefferies, Jody Jefferies, and Aaron Jefferies; 3 loving grandchildren; siblings, Arthur Robinson Jr., Eric Robinson, Donnie Robinson, Penny Robinson, Desi Robinson, Kim Robinson, Dean Robinson; a host of nieces and nephews; and extended family in Texas. He was predeceased by sister Olison Best, and brother Jay Robinson.

Jody was an industrial worker for over 30 years, specializing in asbestos abatement, welding, and carpentry. He was also a proud member of the Narragansett Indian Tribe. Jody knew almost everyone in providence. Many remember him from his earlier years dominating the basketball courts of South Providence. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with, had a great sense of humor, loved to spend time with family and friends, and was always the highlight to any gathering. Jody was always there if you needed him, whether it was someone to talk to, or a shoulder to lean on. He could be found most weekends singing old school R&B with friends/family in the “man cave”, thinking he was the eighth member of his favorite group Con Funk Shun. Jody was the best father, spouse, brother, uncle, and friend anyone could ever ask for. “Jody Rob from South Prov”, will never be forgotten in our hearts and memories.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held Monday morning, January 31st between the hours of 10am and 12pm at Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Higginson Ave, Lincoln RI. Burial is postponed at North Burial Ground, 5 Branch Ave, Providence RI. The family asks that the walkthrough be contactless to observe social distancing. Masks are required. Thank you for your understanding at this time.
